Evening Meditation

I sat in meditation, gazing into the horizon, letting my rabble of thoughts quiet.

The grey mirror of ocean, a reflection of the grey sky above, described a colorless gradient. Light as it neared my seat at the shore, it gradually darkened to a steely line of slate, curbing earth's edge, defining the extent of things I can see.

Set upon this screen, a massive orb suspended in the grey. Her fiery glow blazed orange then red. Barely a blush was shared with the slack shroud of clouds surrounding her. Tonight, the splendor of sunset was for her alone. Slowly, silently, she slipped below the horizon, one perfect eye closing for the night.
